Hollywood resident Debra Cohen, R.N., B.S.N., M.S., N.E.-B.C., has been honored by Fort Lauderdale-based Holy Cross Hospital as its 2013 Leader of the Year for her role as the executive director of nursing for the hospital’s medical/surgical, telemetry, orthopedics, intensive rehabilitation, and palliative care departments.
 
Overseeing 320 employees, Cohen serves as a key member of the hospital’s nursing leadership team. She played a critical role in the hospital’s process to earn Magnet certification and was integral during the hospital’s implementation of iCare, a data management and electronic health records system.
 
Cohen received her master’s degree in business leadership from National Louis University in Evanston and her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Certified as a nurse executive by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, Cohen is a member of the Florida Organization of Nurse Executives, American Organization of Nurse Executives, and the American Nurses Association.
