December 7, 2023– Interventional spine and pain specialist William Porter McRoberts, M.D. has returned to Holy Cross Medical Group, a multi-specialty physician employed group of more than 130 physicians providing services throughout Broward County.

Dr. McRoberts focuses on spinal pain and stenosis, sciatica, sacroiliac pain and dysfunction, chronic post-surgical and post-trauma pain, degenerative disc disease, arthritis and joint pain, painful peripheral nerve injury and neuropathy, facial pain, pelvic pain, spinal fracture management and orthobiologics for spinal disc and joint disease. Double boarded by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in both rehabilitation and pain medicine, he is also a fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. McRoberts is an expert in micro-invasive spine and spinal decompressive techniques, orthobiologics, percutaneous fracture stabilization, and both chemical and electrical neuromodulation of the spinal cord and peripheral nerves.

Over the course of his career, Dr. McRoberts has performed more than 55,000 spine and pain surgeries. He takes a holistic, whole-person approach and believes surgery and procedures aren’t always the best course of care for every patient. His motto is, “To make man whole,” and he applies that ethic through a variety of methods depending on the needs and health of individual patients.

From 2006-2017, Dr. McRoberts was the medical director of interventional spine, pain and neurosurgery at Holy Cross Health and sat on the ministry’s institutional review board from 2008-2011. Before rejoining Holy Cross Health, he conducted research and was on staff at private practices in the Fort Lauderdale area. Dr. McRoberts has been a primary investigator and research scientist on dozens of FDA primary assessment research trials within the interventional spine, pain and neuromodulation space and has authored research articles and book chapters generating over 2,000 scientific citations.  He has traveled the world to give lectures and presentations on innovative treatments for pain and spine disorders.

“Dr. McRoberts is an accomplished physician and researcher, and we are thrilled to have him back with the Holy Cross Medical Group,” said Mark Doyle, president and CEO of Holy Cross Health. “Our focus is always on delivering the highest quality, compassionate care to our patients.”

Upon graduating from the University of Kentucky School of Medicine in Lexington, Kentucky, the Seattle native moved back to the West Coast for an internal medicine internship, followed by a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, California, where he served as chief resident. He was then chief fellow of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education Interventional Spine and Pain Medicine Fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.

In his spare time, he enjoys sailing, diving, cycling, swimming and spending quality time with his family.

Dr. McRobert’s office is within the HCMG Interventional Spine and Pain office, temporarily located at 5597 N. Dixie Highway, 2nd Floor in Fort Lauderdale. To schedule an appointment, call 954-542-7962 or visit holy-cross.com for more information.
