May 23, 2023 Board-certified gynecological surgical oncologist Jean-Marie Stephan, M.D., recently joined Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute. Dr. Stephan specializes in gynecological cancer prevention, gynecological cancer surgery and chemotherapy. He is fluent in English, French, Arabic and conversational Spanish.

“Dr. Stephan is a great addition to the team at Miami Cancer Institute,” said Leonard Kalman, M.D., executive deputy director and chief medical officer at the Institute. “He has extensive expertise in treating ovarian, cervical, endometrial and other gynecologic cancers. And patients appreciate his holistic approach to care and his commitment to include them in the decision-making process.”

Dr. Stephan earned his medical degree from the American University of Beirut and completed his residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. He did a fellowship in gynecology oncology at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.

Before joining the Institute, Dr. Stephan served as a gynecological oncologist and assistant clinical professor at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. At the center, he was also the lead investigator of clinical trials that provide patients access to novel therapies.

Dr. Stephan’s research has been published in Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology, Gynecologic Oncology and the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is a member of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and American Medical Association.
