HCA (Hospital Corporation of America) East Florida Division is pleased to announce the expansion of JFK Medical Center and St. Lucie Medical Center. HCA recently approved over $30 million in capital to expand these two facilities in order to keep pace with the growing demand for health care services in South Florida.

St. Lucie Medical Center is building out their 24,000 square foot third floor and creating an all private 35-bed Orthopedic Unit. Moving the orthopedic unit to the new area will expand the Progressive Care Unit and telemetry capabilities for general acute care patients. The expansion also includes a new chiller, boiler, cooling tower and emergency generator. The $22.4 million expansion and upgrade to the hospital will enhance services and increase hospital capacity for residents of the Treasure Coast.

JFK Medical Center will also be unveiling a hospital expansion this year, building out the 5th floor tower, adding 36 beds to the facilities 424-bed capacity bringing the total capacity to 460. The $10.9 million expansion will consist of 24,750 square feet and be a dedicated orthopedic unit; all 36 rooms on the floor will be private patient rooms and 100% handicap accessible. The unit will include a physical therapy department and 3,400 square feet of gym and treatment space.
