Kendall Regional Medical Center announces the addition of Dr. Mark G. McKenney as Medical Director of the new South Florida Trauma Center at Kendall Regional (Provisional Level II). Housed within its current facility, the new adult trauma center will be the second in Miami-Dade County, providing a much needed service for the community. Dr. McKenney, until recently, was the Medical Director at Ryder Trauma Center and Chief of Surgery at University of Miami Hospital. Dr. McKenney, a professor of surgery at the University of South Florida, will put his unparalleled expertise to good use for the South Florida community, leading a team of trauma experts committed to saving lives.

"The addition of this Provisional Level II South Florida Trauma Center, which we are targeting to open later this year, is the logical next step in Kendall Regional Medical Center’s strategic plan to serve the community with excellence by providing the very best patient care,” said Lee Chaykin, CEO of Kendall Regional Medical Center.

South Florida Trauma Center at Kendall Regional (Provisional Level II) will be part of a statewide trauma network formed through the relationship of the Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) and the University of South Florida (USF), improving access to quality trauma care and services across Florida. The initiative enables five HCA hospitals to meet local trauma needs through an affiliation with a major academic university and medical school.
