Larkin Community Hospital has expanded into Broward County after winning the bankruptcy auction for Hollywood Pavilion Hospital and Hollywood Hills Nursing Home – a debtor whose previous majority owner is in prison for Medicare fraud.
Hollywood Property Investments, an affiliate of the South Miami-based hospital, won the auction on June 24 with a bid of $24.6 million, including $400,000 as a credit bid based on its allowable claim. Larkin previously purchased the $14 million loan owed by debtor High Ridge Management. There were three other bidders.
The 152-bed skilled nursing facility, The Rehabilitation Center at Hollywood Hills, offers a comprehensive line of rehabilitation services, including speech, physical and occupational therapy specializing in treating the unique needs of individuals who are in transition between the hospital and home. Outpatient rehabilitation services are also available.
Larkin Community Hospital also acquired the neighboring 50-bed behavioral health hospital, formerly known as Hollywood Pavilion. Larkin Community Hospital Behavioral Health Services offers inpatient behavioral health treatment as well as PHP and IOP programs.
“This acquisition represents another step in the evolution of our hospital into an integrated delivery system,” Larkin President and Chairman Dr. Jack J. Michel said. “Skilled nursing care is an integral ingredient in the continuum of care, allowing hospitals to reduce length of stay and prevent re-admissions. We look forward to making the enhancements necessary to convert Hollywood Hills into a 5-star facility to serve the needs of our community.”
This is the latest of many recent expansions by Larkin Community Hospital, including a new campus building for Larkin Health Sciences Institute in North Miami, five imaging center locations in Miami-Dade County, a 180-bed assisted living facility in southwest Miami, and several expansions on their South Miami campus.
