Unit will provide urgent care services beginning Friday to support areas impacted by Hurricane Milton
Fort Myers, Fla. – October 10, 2024— After its launch in April 2024, the Lee Health Mobile Care Unit is ready for its first emergency activation following major storm impacts in the Southwest Florida community. Beginning on Friday, October 11 at 7 a.m., the unit will be parked and accepting patients on the corner of Pine Island Road and Burnt Store Road in Cape Coral in the Publix parking lot.
Lee Health, one of the largest public health systems in the United States, built the mobile health-care clinic with support from the state of Florida to respond to disaster incidents like Hurricane Milton and support impacted communities.
The location will operate from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, including Saturday and Sunday. All patients are welcome, and visits will be billed to insurance. Self-pay patients will have sliding scale or charity care applied. The unit can support urgent care visits (IV infusions, sutures, splinting, minor injuries, oxygen, and illness). Any patients requiring escalation or transport will be supported by local EMS.
The mobile care unit will help those impacted by Hurricane Milton from Pine Island to Northwest Cape Coral all the way to Punta Gorda and Charlotte County.
The 36-foot unit has two exam rooms, a central reception area, wheelchair lift and state-of-the-art equipment and devices. The disaster deployment will be supported by a physician, a registered nurse , and customer service representative .
Patients can walk in for urgent care treatment, no appointment necessary.
