The Only Children’s Hospital in the Region Has Also Achieved a Fifth Distinction from The Leapfrog Group
Fort Myers, Fla. – March 8, 2024 — Lee Health’s Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida, which is a proud network hospital of Solutions for Patient Safety (SPS), a children’s hospital patient and employee safety network, has helped to collaboratively eliminate pediatric harm events in the United States and spare 25,000 children from serious harm since 2012.
These lifesaving measures have also led to an estimated combined savings of more than $510.4 million for hospitals in the SPS network, with consistent progress toward the goal of eliminating serious harm altogether.
“As the only children’s hospital in the region, we take quality of care and the safety of our pediatric patients very seriously and hold ourselves to the highest possible standard in those areas,” said chief nursing and operations executive for Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida, Alyssa Bostwick. “Being part of SPS allows us to collaborate and share ideas with other likeminded hospitals around the country to ensure that we are using the most cutting edge evidence based practice for our pediatric patients , and continuously learning and communicating with over 150 other children’s hospitals to ensure our patients are always receiving the very best patient care in our hospital.”
In addition to being part of the SPS milestone, Golisano Children’s Hospital has accomplished another accolade that champions patient safety, among other achievements.
The region’s only children’s hospital has been recognized by The Leapfrog Group as a Top Children’s Hospital five times, joining only eight other children’s hospitals in the most recent distinctions announced in December.
Golisano Children’s Hospital served more than 500,000 patients last year with more than thirty specialty pediatric services, including cardiology, neurology, ophthalmology and orthopedics.
