For the seventh year, Legacy magazine has chosen an elite group of women for its 25 Most Influential & Prominent Black Women in Business distinction. Among the honorees are top South Florida attorneys, public officials, entrepreneurs and Jasmin Shirley, vice president of Broward Health Community Health Services (BHCHS).  

 

Under Shirley’s leadership, BHCHS expanded its operations to implement the first “Medical Home” model of care for children in foster care and expanded this program to include children in kinship family relationships, the Kinship Cares Initiative (KCI); implements the only home health pediatric palliative care program in Broward County; developed and implements the Breast Cancer Patient Navigator Program; expanded Disease Management services to include Sickle Cell Disease and the “Families in Training” (FIT) program to address childhood obesity, which incorporates holistic interventions that involve the entire family. In 1985, Shirley was instrumental in developing the first service network of healthcare and community organizations to address HIV/AIDS in Broward County.
