In 1994, the 21st of Feb. was President’s Day so I always remember when I started this great job as President of SFHHA. It is not hard to believe this is the 13th anniversary of that day because I am proud of every day in between.

I know we all often think today’s crises are unique, but if I’ve learned one important lesson it’s that these things are cyclical. Re-reading the Board minutes from the 1940’s and the 1990’s reminds us that unfunded and inadequately funded patient care, rigid government programs and regulations, nurse and workforce shortages, and inquisitive media have been with us a very long time. What is so wonderful about being here is that I know that every day in every way the people in South Florida’s hospitals and those of you who work with them do so to help make healthcare accessible and affordable for the community. I am indeed fortunate to play any role is supporting and representing those efforts.

Thank you for the privilege.
