October 3, 2025 – Malvina Duncan, Safe Kids Miami-Dade County representative and registered nurse at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, has received The Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nurses in recognition of her commitment to child safety and compassionate pediatric care. Duncan plays a critical role in promoting injury prevention and community education in her role as a Safe Kids representative
From advocating for safety initiatives to personally supporting families through difficult times, Duncan’s work reflects a deep passion for protecting the well-being of children. Colleagues say her empathy and professionalism shine through in every interaction—with many noting her willingness to rearrange her schedule or come in on days off to ensure families receive the support they need.
The DAISY Award is an international program that honors excellence in nursing. It was created by The DAISY Foundation to recognize the clinical skills, extraordinary compassion and care exhibited by nurses every day. The award is given monthly to an outstanding nurse in more than 237 hospitals across the United States and around the world.
