Martin Health System is pleased to announce that Amy Longar, R.N., M.S.N., is the new director of the Health and Healing program and bariatric services. Longar has been employed at Martin Health for 12 years and was formerly the director of patient throughput and staffing.
In her new role, Longar will oversee services designed to help keep people well by providing diabetes and nutrition education, nutritional counseling, weight management and tobacco cessation. The Health and Healing program at Martin Health is designed to address chronic diseases such as diabetes, obesity and lung cancer.
Longar is very excited to be working with the Center for Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery at Martin Health as she has had personal experience with this service line. In 2015, she underwent sleeve gastrectomy and has had great success in making significant lifestyle changes and losing weight.
