The Miami Jewish Home and Hospital for the Aged (MJHHA), in cooperation with the Community Chaplaincy Service of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation (GMJF) and the Rabbinical Association of Greater Miami, recently hosted the Twelfth Annual Ministering to the Elderly Seminar on the Douglas Gardens campus. Over 150 interfaith clergy members and allied professionals attended a panel discussion on this years area of focus, “Dealing with Dementia: Diagnosis, Treatment and Hope,” featuring a keynote address by Marc Agronin, M.D., MJHHA Director of Mental Health Services.
Rabbi Schiff presents the Douglas Gardens Clergy Award to Rev. Cannon Dr. J. Fritz Bazin.
The distinguished panel consisted of Nataly Rubinstein, Clinical Social Worker at the Wien Center; Stephen Sapp, Ph.D., Chairperson of the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Miami; and Agustin Rodriguez, Family Caregiver Support Specialist for the Alliance for Aging. Rabbi Solomon Schiff, Director of Chaplaincy at GMJF and Executive Vice President of the Rabbinical Association of Greater Miami, serves as Program Chairman for this annual event, which is organized by Elaine Schumacher, MJHHA Community Outreach Coordinator.
Following the seminar, Rabbi Schiff was honored to present the Douglas Gardens Clergy Award for Ministering to the Elderly to the Reverend Cannon Dr. J. Fritz Bazin, Rector of St. Paul et Les Martyrs dHaiti Episcopal Church.
