The Non-Profit Medical Center is Participating in The Miami Foundation’s Give Miami Day 2024 for the first time.
Mount Sinai is participating in Give Miami Day 2024 on November 21, 2024, with Early Giving beginning November 17th
November 7, 2024 – 2024 marks Mount Sinai Medical Center’s first time participating in Give Miami Day, a community-wide event organized by The Miami Foundation to raise funds for local non-profits. For almost 75 years, Mount Sinai has delivered on its mission to provide high-quality health care to our diverse community, enhanced through teaching, research, charity care, and financial responsibility. The medical center’s participation cements our dedication caring for the South Florida community.
In 2023 alone, Mount Sinai Medical Center contributed over $200 million in charity care, including $62 million in emergency care, $14.7 in care of the homeless, and $8.4 in cancer care. Because 16% of Miami-Dade County citizens are uninsured — 3% higher than the Florida average — charity care is vital to removing barriers and providing access to high-quality health care.
Give Miami Day serves as a financial lifeline for over 1,000 non-profits, making it The Miami Foundation’s largest annual initiative. Additionally, all of the funds are unrestricted, allowing for flexibility in spending.
At Mount Sinai, we are dedicated to continually expanding access to high quality care for our patients, serving South Florida throughout 13 locations. We are committed to continuing to expand our expert medical staff, while investing in the newest technologies and infrastructure projects. The medical center has invested $1 billion in new facilities, capital improvement projects, and on-going maintenance projects to ensure every patient receives the highest standard of care, regardless of race, creed, nationality, or ability to pay.
The pinnacle of these investments is the Irma and Norman Braman Comprehensive Cancer Center, opening in early 2026, which will usher in a new era of advanced, patient-centric cancer care in conjunction with Columbia University, promising unparalleled access to physicians, support services, and results-driven care.
