Divina Grossman, Ph.D., R.N., F.A.A.N., Vice President for Engagement at Florida International University (FIU), has been elected Chairwoman of the Board of Directors for the Health Foundation of South Florida.

 

Dr. Grossman became a Health Foundation Board member in 2003 and most recently served as Vice Chair. Prior to her position as FIU’s Vice President for Engagement, Dr. Grossman served as the Director and then Dean of the School of Nursing, and later Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing cum laude from the University of Santo Tomas (Philippines), an M.S.N. at the University of Miami and a Ph.D. at the University of Pennsylvania.

 

Dr. Grossman is the current Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Kendall Regional Medical Center, Board member of the Miami Foundation, Editorial Board member of the American Journal

of Nursing, Steering Committee member of the Association of Public and Land Grant Universities’ Urban Serving Universities (USU) and a member of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s

National Advisory Council for the Nurse Faculty Scholars Program. She was featured in Miami Today’s Book of Leaders 2006. She was the past chair of the Florida Association of Colleges of Nursing,

Board member of the American Academy of Nursing and Chair of the AAN’s Health Disparities Task Force, President of the Florida League for Nursing, Chair of the Florida Nurses Association Task Force

on Cultural Diversity, Chair of the American Nurses Association’s (ANA) Council of Medical Surgical Nursing Practice and was the ANA Representative to the United States Pharmacopeia.

 

For her multifarious achievements, she received Fellowship in the American Academy of Nursing, the Ada Sue Hinshaw Award from the Friends of the National Institute of Nursing Research, American Red Cross Spectrum Award, Businesswoman of the Year from the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce, Jessie Trice Heroes Award from Health Choice Network, Mary Cash Award for Outstanding Contributions to Cultural Diversity from the Florida Nurses Association (FNA) as well as their Nurse Educator of the Year Award and the Thomasian Award for Nursing Education.
