Diane Whitehead has taken the role as lead author on the newest edition of the nursing textbook, Essentials of Nursing Leadership & Management. Now in its forth edition, this textbook was selected as one of the American Journal Nursing Books of the Year for 2002. This nursing leadership textbook is widely used by entry level programs throughout the United States and in Canada. The biggest change past users will find over the previous edition is the use of color throughout the book. The new design provides a fresh look to at contemporary workplace issues, including agency nurses and staff shortages. Dr. Whitehead is the department chair for nursing at Nova Southeastern University (NSU). Co-authors of the book include NSU’s Dr. Sally Weiss and Dr. Ruth Tappen of Florida Atlantic University.
