Johnston joins the hospital’s leadership team with extensive healthcare operations experience and will help advance strategic growth, operational excellence, and high-quality patient care for the communities Oak Hill serves.

August 6, 2026  — This week HCA Florida Oak Hill welcomes new Chief Operating Officer (COO) Matt Johnston, MHA.

Johnston brings more than 16 years of healthcare leadership experience to Oak Hill Hospital. Most recently, he served as COO for four years at HCA Florida Trinity Hospital, where he helped drive operational efficiencies, oversaw the construction and opening of a new free-standing emergency room in Sunlake, and aligned business operations across the hospital and affiliated outpatient care sites to best serve patients, physicians and the community.

Prior to his role at Trinity Hospital, Johnston served as Vice President of Operations at The Medical Center of Aurora in Colorado. Additionally, he has held progressive leadership roles including Administrator of Spalding Rehabilitation Hospital, Perioperative Business Manager at The Medical Center of Aurora, Supply Chain Director at Rose Medical Center in Denver and Administrative Resident at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.

He earned his bachelor’s degree at Brigham Young University and a Master of Health Administration degree at Virginia Commonwealth University.
