Lee Memorial Health System has launched a new electronic medical record system (EMR) in the Emergency Department of Cape Coral Hospital. It is the first LMHS hospital ER to begin the transition away from paper processes to use an electronic medical record system.

Moving to an electronic medical record system allows doctors, nurses and other health care professionals to easily access patient information. Vital statistics and results from lab tests and X-ray results are automatically transferred into the electronic record for instant access by the emergency physicians. Prescriptions can be entered and printed on the spot, and discharge information and patient instructions are also expedited with this system. All of this allows the physician more time with the patient.

LMHS is also installing the electronic medical records system in Lee Physician Group offices. Dr. Leah Lynch and Dr. Binh Truong of Associates in Internal Medicine are the first two physicians to take advantage of this fully integrated EMR program.
