“The goal of our new freestanding emergency room is to provide better access for patients needing emergency care right where they need in it in the Arlington area,” said Reed Hammond, chief executive officer of HCA Florida Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, FL. “As a part of HCA Florida Healthcare, the largest healthcare system in Florida, we are meeting our patients in their community providing the closest ER access for them.”
The new HCA Florida Merrill Road ER will provide:

- One Trauma Bay
- Minimally invasive diagnostics
- CT scan
- Ultrasound
- X-ray
- Board-certified emergency physicians
- Emergency room nurses
- Easy access to parking
- 24-7 availability
“By providing an Emergency Room in the Merrill Road area, we will be connecting with our Arlington community and meeting their emergency needs,” said Shilpa Amin, MD, medical director of emergency services for HCA Florida Memorial Hospital. “We are thrilled to bring our high level of healthcare expertise and compassionate care to the Merrill area.”
Construction, combined with purchasing new equipment, cost approximately $8.3 million. The land was acquired in September 2019 for $1.1 million. The project was developed in partnership with Brentwood, Tennessee-based architects TMPartners and Nashville-based Catalyst Design Group, with Hoar Construction of Orlando as the contractor.
