Pediatric nurses Sheila Hecht, R.N. (left), and Evna Jean-Louis, R.N., are happy to be reunited with triplets Brian, Kailee and Carly Blum at the 15th annual reunion of the George Batchelor/Gloria Vasta Lewis Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Baptist Children’s Hospital. The triplets were born premature at 27 weeks, and spent the first two months of their lives in the NICU. The annual reunion provides an opportunity for doctors, nurses and staff to reunite with their former patients, and to celebrate the giant strides they have made since leaving the hospital. Approximately 400 premature or critically ill infants, many weighing little more than a pound, are treated each year in the NICU.
