March 28, 2024 – They are the backbone of families. They are the ones who spend countless hours doing all for everyone. They are the ones who advocate and provide a voice for the ones they love. On Tuesday, May 7, 2024, POST (Pediatric Oncology Support Team) will honor these incredible individuals, mothers, during their annual luncheon beginning at 11:30 a.m. at Mirasol Country Club.
The luncheon will feature POST cancer patient, Deneilia Bennett, while raising crucial funding to provide basic necessities such as gas, groceries, utilities, and more, for families with children in the fight for their life. The organization was created in 1998 so that no family would have to walk a child’s cancer journey alone. Since its inception, POST has awarded more than $1.5 million to more than 2,300 families across Palm Beach County and Treasure Coast.

“POST was created because children get cancer too,” shared Barbara Abernathy, founder of POST “It is a situation no family wants to be in, but with the support, they can focus on the fight ahead and not whether they have enough gas to get to treatment.”
Honorary chair of the event is Lisa Glasband, a longtime supporter who volunteers herself to aid the organization in its growth and fundraising goals to assist in aiding even more families each year.
Added Abernathy, “This is going to be a very special event. Mothers helping mothers is what this is all about. Mothers lean on each other in good times and in tough times. This luncheon is a symbol of strength and togetherness that we are very much looking forward to.”
Tickets are $200 per person with tables and custom sponsorships available. The event sells out annually so early ticket purchases are encouraged.
POST is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit helping local children and their families fight cancer by giving them emotional and financial support.
