Supported by a grant from the Palm Healthcare Foundation, the Volunteer Nursing Corps (VNC) is a group of nursing faculty, graduate and undergraduate nursing students and nurses in the community devoted to the mission of improving healthcare in Palm Beach County.

 

Timmer earned her BSW from Bloomfield College in New Jersey and her BSN from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She earned her MSN-FNP from South University and currently is enrolled in Palm Beach Atlantic’s Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. Previously, she worked at JFK Medical Center in Atlantis as a registered nurse in the cardiac rehabilitation center and as a registered nurse educator.

She has served on the board of Interfaith Health and Wellness since 2007 and the Women’s Board of Winners Church. She is a facilitator for Faith Community Nursing in Florida and a certified medication trainer in collaboration with the Agency for Persons with Disabilities. In addition, she is involved with numerous local committees that serve the health needs of the underserved, elderly and vulnerable citizens in Palm Beach County.

 

For the past 15 years, Timmer and her husband, Gary, have owned Emerald Manor group homes in Broward and Palm Beach counties that provide 24-hour care for intellectually challenged patients.
