Because Breakfast Doesn’t Take a Summer Vacation
June 27, 2023 – Palm Beach Children’s Hospital at St. Mary’s is pleased to announce that it donated 2,400 pounds of cereal to the Boys and Girls Club during its Healthy Over Hungry® Cereal Drive, which ran from June 12th to 22rd, 2023.
“The donations we collected during our ‘Healthy Over Hungry® Cereal Drive’ will help provide local children and adults struggling with hunger with a healthy breakfast during the summer. I am grateful for the support of our staff and community in this effort,” said Cynthia McCauley, CEO at St. Mary’s Medical Center. “Good nutrition is essential to good health, and we want to help lead the fight against hunger in South Florida.”
More than 132,000 people struggle with hunger in Palm Beach County in 2021, according to Feeding America. The organization estimated the annual food budget shortfall locally is nearly $103 million, with the average meal costing $4.40.
