PBCMS leaders traveled to Tallahassee and Washington advocating with legislators on critical issues impacting medicine. More than 20 Palm Beach County physicians serve as delegates to the Florida Medical Association and the American Medical Association; and this year, past PBCMS president Dr. Alan B. Pillersdorf serves as President of the FMA.

 

Communicating with the community also has been a top priority focus with the launch of “House Calls,” an outreach program. And our new “Members Only Website” now offers a Practice Management Resource Guide and comprehensive physicians data base. Plans also are underway to launch a Future of Medicine Blog.

 

With the generous support of the Quantum Foundation, the Society convened all PBC Graduate Medical Education Programs to launch the Palm Beach County Partnership for Graduate Medical Education. The Partnership will develop and implement strategies to retain our residents in Palm Beach County. Financial incentives will be available to residents who choose to practice in under-served areas and federally qualified health centers.

 

Now in its 9^th year, our highly acclaimed Future of Medicine Summit will feature nationally renowned speakers addressing “Important Conversation in Health Care.” Topics include Medical Ethics, Conversations on End of Life, Innovations in Payment and Delivery Models, the Environment and the Future of Medical Education.

 

Commitment to Service is the Mission of PBCMS Services, the charitable organization led by President Michael Dennis. More than 2,500 physicians, hospitals , healthcare providers, business and community volunteers are actively in engaged in service through Project Access, Health Emergency Response Coalition, the Medical Reserve Corp , Future of Medicine Initiative ,and Triple Aim Care Coordination Initiative.

 

Project Access, in partnership with free and charitable clinics has launched an advocacy campaign, #Caring 4 PBC, to raise awareness about the resources available to assist the uninsured, recruit additional physicians, hospitals and diagnostic services to provide care, and solicit donations to provide needed services. #Caring4PBC is intended to reduce the burden to taxpayers by covering the costs of unfunded emergency care. Even more importantly, it’s aimed at saving lives by providing quality care to those who can’t afford it.
