Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center is the first hospital in Palm Beach County now using the highly sensitive Troponin T. This test allows physicians to accurately rule out patients presenting to the emergency department with chest pain who are not having a heart attack. This technology increases the sensitivity for Troponin detection, which is the preferred biomarker in the diagnosis of a heart attack. In addition to using an electrocardiogram and signs of ischemia, troponin is becoming a more standard way of diagnosing a heart attack.
