Robins & Morton is proud to be a part of the team bringing a breakthrough in cancer care to Miami.

 

The revolutionary 220-ton proton therapy cyclotron, “Pete”, was recently delivered to Miami Cancer Institute and will provide next-generation cancer treatment. Robins & Morton served as the concrete subcontractor to Gilbane Building Company on the Proton Therapy Building, which will house the cyclotron. Robins & Morton was responsible for the concrete structure surrounding the proton treatment vaults and equipment. The construction of the vaults included 15,000 cubic yards of specialized radiation shielding mass concrete and required a great deal of coordination due to its location within the Miami Cancer Institute complex. The two firms, Gilbane and Robins & Morton, worked together to develop a partnering approach ensuring the project runs smoothly and meets Baptist Health South Florida’s needs.

 

In addition to the Proton Therapy Building, Robins & Morton is completing the 305,000 square foot Miami Cancer Institute at Baptist Health South Florida.
