North Broward Hospital District (NBHD) and Phoenix Physicians, an emergency department physician management company, recently introduced the GlideScope, which provides a clear, real-time view of a patient’s airway, enabling fast and accurate intubations. GlideScope is produced by Verathon Medical, which manufactures and distributes reliable, state-of-the-art medical devices and services.

“The GlideScope Video Laryngoscopy is a wonderful addition to the District’s emergency departments when non-expert airway managers are available,” said Dr. Wayne Lee, Phoenix Physician’s Senior Medical Officer. “One of an emergency physician’s biggest challenges is managing a difficult airway, and if we must, having all possible resources on-hand makes all the difference.”

The GlideScope was purchased for use in the North Broward Medical Center’s Level II trauma center. Emergency physicians are also attending interactive hospital mandated training courses on using the new technology effectively.
