Betsy Heartfield, MPT, NHA Vice President, Long Term Care and Rehabilitative Services, and Pavilion Administrator The Pavilion, Jupiter Medical Centers not-for-profit 120-bed long-term care and sub acute rehabilitation facility, recently celebrated its 30-year anniversary and achieved its sixth consecutive “five-star” quality rating from the Agency for Health Care Administration. Betsy Heartfield, Administrator of The Pavilion since 2004, has excelled in continuing the tradition of ensuring quality and compassionate care for its residents and patients. Heartfields successful performance is exemplified by the fact that her role was recently expanded to include Vice President of Jupiter Medical Centers Rehabilitative Services, which encompasses the executive oversight of the hospitals Inpatient and Outpatient Rehab services, Cardiac Rehab and Diabetes Education. Heartfield has 12 years of administrative experience in the skilled nursing industry. She earned a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Miami, and a Bachelors Degree in Accounting from New Hampshire College. She is a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator and a member of the Florida Health Care Association. “Being the Administrator at The Pavilion has been an extremely rewarding experience for me, both personally and professionally,” said Heartfield. “It is truly the people, from our patients and families to our incredible team of dedicated employees, who have helped The Pavilion evolve into such an exceptional facility.”
Rosa Trainer, M.S., CCC-SLP Director of Rehabilitative Services As Director of Rehabilitative Services at The Pavilion, Jupiter Medical Centers not-for-profit 120-bed long-term care and sub acute rehabilitation facility, Rosa Trainer empowers physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech-language pathologists to provide high quality therapeutic services to geriatric patients requiring skilled care. “It is unbelievably inspiring to watch a therapist and a patient travel the incredible journey of recovery together,” said Trainer. Trainer oversees a staff of 24 rehabilitative professionals who provide a full range of services at The Pavilion and four local off-site clinics. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana with a Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology. Trainer also currently serves on the board of the American Heart Association, and is a member of the American Speech Language and Hearing Association and the Florida Speech Language Hearing Association. With over 28 years of experience, Trainer has a true passion for her field. “Rehabilitation is still a relatively young field, having only really taken off after WWII,” said Trainer. “Advances in research are continuously forthcoming, making rehabilitation a dynamic field with incredible growth potential and great promise for the future.”
West Palm Beach VA Medical Centers Geriatrics & Extended Care Service
Sandy PlataAdministrative Officer Sandy Plata was recently selected to serve as the Administrative Officer for the West Palm Beach VA Medical Centers Geriatrics & Extended Care Service. Under the umbrella of the Geriatrics & Extended Care Service, are a number of programs and services including Community Living Center, Adult Day Healthcare, Community Residential Care, Respite Care, Hospice Care and Home Based Primary Care. Originally from Brooklyn, Sandy has lived in Puerto Rico and California before moving back to the East Cost. She began her VA career at the VA in Long Beach, California. She was a part of the vanguard that opened the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center in 1995 where she worked in the secretarial pool for a variety of services. As a Program Support Assistant, she spent most of her time working in Extended Care. Sandy loves working with this veteran population. “Its wonderful to be able to put a smile on their face. It just makes the day worthwhile.” Sandy is a true patient advocate and was presented with the VA Hands and Heart award for her caring disposition. Sandy has three children and two grandchildren. She enjoys salsa music and watching old movies. A couple years ago, Sandys husband died of pancreatic cancer. To help raise awareness, Sandy and her family have traveled to New York each July to participate in the Walk for Pancreatic Cancer. Last year her family successfully raised $6,000 for cancer research.
Doron Nuchovich, M.D.
Dr. Doron Nuchovich went to Medical School in Uruguay and completed his first residency in anesthesia and critical care in Israel. He returned to the United States in 1994 and did his second residency at Washington University in St. Louis in internal medicine. He served as an Associate Professor at the University of Texas in San Antonio.
In 2004, he started working at the West Palm Beach VAs Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Fort Pierce. He later transferred to the West Palm Beach VA Medical Centers Geriatric & Extended Care Service where he continues to work. Per Dr. Dr. Nuchovich, he is grateful to work at the VA because it allows him an opportunity, by taking care of veterans, to give back to this country.
Dr. Nuchovich is married and enjoys flying airplanes and biking.
