Robert Enriquez, center, a radiological technologist at Mariners Hospital, celebrates being named the hospital’s Employee of the Quarter. Enriquez was nominated for the award by his fellow employees in recognition of his assistance with an early-morning gunshot victim. Enriquez was off duty at 4:45 a.m. on a Sunday when he was called to the hospital’s Emergency Department to interpret for a Spanish-speaking man who had three gunshot wounds. Thanks to Enriquez, doctors were able to obtain critical medical information to help the patient’s treatment.
