Shafer is president of Robert J. Shafer and Associates, Inc., located in Coral Gables.

 

Shafer currently serves on the Orange Bowl Committee and the Miami-Dade County Public Schools District Athletic Advisory Committee. He was a community board member for the University of Miami and has served as a board member for the Coral Gables Community Foundation. Mr. Shafer is a past chairman of the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce, has served as president of the South Florida Golf Foundation –– where he has volunteered for more than 20 years –– and has led various committees at University Baptist Church of Coral Gables.
