Dr. Robert Borrego serves as Trauma Agency Physician Advisor for the Health Care District of Palm Beach County, bringing extensive clinical expertise and leadership to the region’s trauma system. In this role, he provides clinical guidance and serves as a subject-matter expert on evolving trauma care practices. He mentors education leaders, EMS directors, and hospital teams, strengthening coordination, performance, and outreach across the county.

Board-certified in general surgery, trauma, and surgical critical care, Dr. Borrego is an Army veteran and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Borrego earned his medical degree from the University of Florida and served for more than 34 years as Trauma Medical Director at St. Mary’s Medical Center’s Level I Trauma Center. He maintains a focused practice in general surgery and critical care. His distinguished career reflects a commitment to trauma system development, quality improvement, and the delivery of lifesaving patient care throughout the region.
