A native Floridian, Karen Michaelson has been an Emergency Department (ED) nurse for 21 years. For the last eight years, she has been caring for patients in the ED department at Broward Health Coral Springs.

Inspired by her family, Michaelson knew early on she would become a nurse. “My mom was especially influential in my career choices,” she said. “She passed away in 2020, but I try every day to make her proud by helping others.”

Michaelson enjoys supporting new nurses as they learn and grow in their roles. Whether she is overseeing the emergency department or taking care of patients, she is always guiding and helping others.

“I love what I do,” she added. “I am blessed to be able to help people and grateful for all the opportunities I have been given.”

Michaelson earned an associate degree in nursing at Broward College and a bachelor degree in nursing at South University.
