Sara Jenkins, M.Ed., BSN, RN, CCRN, NPD-BC is a clinical education coordinator for nursing in the Colleague Training and Professional Practice Department at Holy Cross Health, where she strengthens systems, empowers nurses and ensures patients receive the highest standard of care by reshaping how new nurses are welcomed, trained and supported. Jenkins identifies gaps and devises solutions to fill them, simplifies processes and inspires nurses to grow within the organization. She led a transformational revamping of the orientation program. This enhanced onboarding experience emphasizes psychological safety, clarity of expectations and connection to Holy Cross’ mission, resulting in improved staff engagement, smoother transitions to practice, and positive feedback from new hires and unit leadership. Jenkins collaborated with the Professional Practice team and created the Tiered Staff Advancement Model, a structured orientation standardizing nursing workflows while allowing units to adapt education to skill level and acuity, bringing clarity and consistency to the onboarding and development process. Through her leadership, nursing workflows have been carefully standardized to enhance safety, efficiency and reliability. Jenkins is approachable, has a solution-focused mindset and wears a smile. She leads with compassion and is known for her openness, collaborative spirit and eagerness to help teams.
