Professor Yesenia Blanco serves as a faculty member teaching in the Associate of Science in Nursing program. She is the most recent recipient of the Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nurse Educators honoring nursing faculty that make significant contributions to the future of nursing. Many of the Benjamin Leon School of Nursing students face challenges such as multi-generational families and the need to work while completing a rigorous curriculum. Professor Blanco is recognized by faculty and students for her ability to teach medical-surgical nursing so that difficult concepts can be understood by novice nursing students. She excels in her ability to integrate the theory into the clinical setting facilitating clinical judgement to recognize the dynamic health care environment. Professor Blanco not only excels in her role as an educator with students; she also served as the Faculty Success Coaches mentoring new faculty to ease their transition from practitioner to educator.
