Judy BolesSince 2005, Judy Boles has been a dedicated volunteer at Broward Health Medical Center. Her caring, enthusiastic demeanor has made her an asset to BHMC. She has volunteered in many departments, including the ER, the Intensive Care Waiting Room, and in the Gift Shop.
“It has been a great journey, and I enjoy it every day,” said Boles. “My favorite part of volunteering is seeing change, improvement and expanding services for our patients. I love asking our visitors, ‘Can I help you?’ A heartwarming smile crosses their face, and you know that your day is going to be a good one.”
Boles’ commitment to BHMC has led her to leadership roles in the Auxiliary. She has served as Co-President, President, and First Vice President. Additionally, she serves as the South District Director for The Association of Florida Healthcare Auxiliaries / Volunteers, Inc., an organization that provides support for Florida Auxiliaries.
Ashley BrizendineAshley Brizendine has been a volunteer with the BHMC Auxiliary since April 2014. Volunteering is a natural extension of Brizendine’s love of helping others. Her connection to BHMC began when she was a little girl, and her brother was born at the hospital. She and her family continued to visit the gift shop every year at Christmas to buy gifts.
Brizendine volunteers in the ER check-in desk, the Gift Shop, and in the playroom in the Pediatric Cancer Center. She also serves as chairperson of the ICU family dinner program. The most rewarding part of volunteering is “being caring and helpful when someone is going through a hard time,” said Brizendine. She puts her heart into all aspects of her role, whether she is helping patients fill out registration forms in the ER, selling merchandise in the gift shop, or playing with young patients in the cancer center.
