Shannon Harvey, an attorney and web series creator, joined our volunteer team in 2014. Her personal loss and spiritual beliefs, inspired by Buddhist faith, motivates her.

Shannon wasn’t at her mother’s bedside when she died because she didn’t realize the severity of her condition. The experience left her with a void, one she’s filling as a volunteer.

Shannon visits and provides support to patients in nursing homes. She notes that although volunteering can be emotionally challenging, it’s worth it.

“The honor I feel being a part of their end-of life care always overpowers the sorrow,” she says.
