November 15, 2025 – With November being Lung Cancer Awareness Month, Sarasota Memorial’s Brian D. Jellison Cancer Institute team used a pair of towering lungs today to demonstrate how early detection and screenings can save lives.

The 10-foot-tall inflatable lungs loomed over the Sarasota Farmers Market on Saturday as part of an interactive display that shined a spotlight on the deadly, but often preventable disease.

Scores of Suncoast residents and visitors stopped by the SMH booth to walk through the powerful visual and chat with the oncology specialists about how lungs function, how cancer develops and what steps they can take to protect their lung health.
