The South Florida chapter of the Medical Group Managers Association (SFMGMA) will present “Your Road Map to Survival in Health Care Today and Tomorrow” on Saturday, September 20 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Sheraton Fort Lauderdale, 1825 Griffin Rd., Dania Beach.

 

Registration is $49 for members of the SFMGMA, BCMA and DCMA and $100 for non-members. The non-member fee includes a 2014 membership to SFMGMA. Register and pay online at www.southfloridamgma.com.

 

Topics for the event include, “Alphabet Soup: ACOs, MSOs, CINs, IPAs: What are they? What may be good for you?” presented by Mike Segal, the chair of the Health Law Practice Group for the statewide law firm, Broad and Cassel. Healthcare Compliance Pros, one of the event’s major sponsors, will be offering a breakout session on “HIPAA Hi-Tech/Medicare Compliance.”

 

A panel discussion on the benefits of ACOs or CINs will include participation by Dr. Jonathan Fialkow of Baptist Health Quality Network, as well as Shawn Franklin of Holy Cross Hospital and representatives from Memorial Health Care System.

 

A second panel discussion will include physicians talking about the options for remaining independent. Other breakout sessions will include “Risk Management CME,” “PQRS, Meaningful Use II, Value-based Payments,” and “Patient Satisfaction.”
