Jupiter Medical Center’s multi-pronged approach to the growth of its oncology program focuses on strategic recruitment of physicians, integration of innovative technology, clinical trial expansion and streamlining access points for patient care.

Rogerio C. Lilenbaum, MD, FACP, FASCO, Senior Vice President and Chief Physician Executive, who joined Jupiter Medical Center in 2022, has spearheaded the expansion efforts and continues to drive the medical center’s focus on cancer care. “We continue to build upon our reputation in cancer care.” As a destination cancer center in South Florida, the Anderson Family Cancer Institute provides leading-edge cancer services and technology all under one roof.

In the past year, the Anderson Family Cancer Center at Jupiter Medical Center has undergone a strategic initiative to make cancer care more readily accessible, providing cancer patients and their families a more seamless experience. Recognizing the challenge that newly diagnosed patients have in seeking timely access to an initial appointment with an oncologist, Jupiter Medical Center has implemented Next Day Oncologist Appointments. Patients are now able to see an oncologist the next day after their diagnosis. The initiative is a crucial step in giving cancer patients peace of mind and support from the very beginning of their cancer journey. “We are proud of our efforts in being able to see patients when they need us most,” says Dr. Lilenbaum.

Ensuring that patients have the right expertise for their specific cancer diagnosis is another important focus. In the past year, Jupiter Medical Center expanded its exceptional multidisciplinary team of specialists. “We have recruited exceptional physicians who are experts in a number of cancer fields,” says Dr. Lilenbaum. Cancer patients have the collective expertise of a team of specialists collaborating to provide personalized treatment plans for each patient.

The integration of technology is a third key focus for Jupiter Medical Center. In October, the medical center introduced 3D contrast-enhanced digital mammography at its Margaret W. Niedland Breast Center, building upon its industry-leading breast cancer diagnostics, which also include Hologic’s 3D Quorum Imaging Technology, powered by Genius AI™. Jupiter Medical Center is one of only three facilities in Florida to use AI-powered analytics to generate enhanced breast imaging.

Jupiter Medical Center also continues to expand patient access to clinical trials, giving cancer patients a pipeline to emerging cancer treatments that offer improved quality of life and survival rates. “Clinical research is not just an aspiration for Jupiter Medical Center; it is an integral component of high-quality care,” says Dr. Lilenbaum. “Every new discovery in medicine reaches the patient through clinical trials.”

The new year will bring a continuation of Jupiter Medical Center’s growth and expansion in oncology with the focus, as always, on meeting the needs of the people we serve. “We will continue to develop specialties, expand our research portfolio, and work diligently to ease the cancer experience for patients and their families,” says Dr. Lilenbaum.
