Funds Directed to Sarcoma, Lymphoma, Brain Cancer, and Melanoma Research at Sylvester
The Pap Corps Champions for Cancer Research is proud to announce the Dr. Kevin Berkowitz Memorial End of Year Giving Campaign will support adult and pediatric cancer research for lymphoma, sarcoma, brain cancer, and melanoma. This annual campaign funds groundbreaking research at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. The giving challenge for melanoma is being augmented by an anonymous matching gift equaling $50,000. “Our End of Year Giving Campaign truly highlights the message we want to resonate with the community, The Pap Corps ‘unites the fight,’” said Sally Berenzweig, CEO of The Pap Corps. “Every year, we raise millions of dollars to fund all types of cancer research, but for our End of Year Campaign, we target cancers that Sylvester requests extra funding for.”
Dr. Kevin Berkowitz launched the end of year giving challenge in 2014, and following his death, the campaign was continued in his honor.
“Our recent Surviving in Style event featured several survivors who received treatment at Sylvester for the cancers we have specifically funded with End of Year Giving,” said Beverly Berkowitz, Pap Corps Director and mother of Dr. Berkowitz. “Hearing their cancer journeys and understanding the role research played in extending their lives was so inspiring and makes us all want to do more. I know my son would be so honored to see the impact of his legacy.”
Through the years, EOY contributions have supported research in many specialties including pancreatic cancer, pediatric cancer, pediatric sarcoma, myeloma, breast cancer, testicular cancer, myeloma, and brain cancer. In addition, EOY has supported stem cell research and the
development of the Game Changer Vehicle for Palm Beach County. Since its launch, The Pap Corps EOY raised over $3 million thanks to generous donors and the many dedicated chapter events.

Since its founding in 1952, The Pap Corps has donated more than $110 million to Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, including a historic $50 million pledge in 2016. The Pap Corps derives its name from Dr. George Papanicolaou, a pioneer in cytopathology and early cancer detection, who introduced the world to the revolutionary ‘Pap’ test. A small group of women began the organization to support his efforts, and over the decades it has grown into an organization of over 20,000 men and women, in over 50 chapters, who raise funds to support research for all types of cancers.
