Patient support
For over 30 years, the Wien Center for Alzheimer’s Disease and Memory Disorders at Mount Sinai
Medical Center has offered hope and care to patients experiencing memory loss. Our team serves as a resource to patients and their families, connecting them to services ranging from home health care to adult day care. The Wien Center also offers educational workshops and seminars for both patients and families. Caregiver training and support groups are also available.

In addition to connecting patients to community resources and workshops, the Wien Center offers a free memory screening program for individuals 50 years and older, to help with early diagnosis.

Cutting-edge Research and Education
The Wien Center has received funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as a partner to the
University of Florida to establish an Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC), one of only thirty-one
ADRCs in the nation. A group of Florida institutions make up the 1Florida ADRC. The 1Florida ADRC is significant and plays an important role in sharing ideas and innovative strategies with other researchers.

The center is dedicated to enhancing research for the prevention of Alzheimer’s disease by detecting the preclinical stages of the disease, utilizing advanced brain imaging methods and cognitive tests. The research conducted by the 1Florida ADRC promotes a better understanding of the biology and predictors of the course of Alzheimer’s disease. Ultimately, the research provides the basis for developing new treatments for the disease.

The Wien Center is also the lead institution for the Florida Brain Bank – a service for providing a final pathological diagnosis for dementing disorders and for supporting research in Alzheimer’s and related disorders around the globe. In collaboration with institutions around the US and Canada, the Wien Center is also focused on clinical trials dedicated to developing treatments at a very early stage of the disease as well as for people in later stages of the disease.

The Wien Center is proud to be a national leader for education of health professionals, patients and their caregivers. Prominent amongst these efforts, the Wien Center continues to host the Mild Cognitive
Impairment (MCI) symposium and Public Education Forum for 16 years. This international conference focuses on developments in understanding the biology, the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of the earliest stages of Alzheimer’s and related disorders.
