Joseph M. Cobo and Miguel “Mike” Fernandez were recently sworn in as members of the Board of Commissioners for the North Broward Hospital District. Both were appointed by Florida Gov. Charlie Crist.

Commissioner Cobo is president and chief executive officer of Florida Medical Management Consultants, Inc. A certified healthcare business consultant with more than 30 years experience, Commissioner Cobo’s work in health care management ranges from the solo practitioner to national multi-hospital systems.

Commissioner Fernandez is managing director for Latin America for SonoSite. He holds degrees in multinational business and marketing, has worked in healthcare product sales for more than 25 years.

In addition, new officers were elected and include Chair Rebecca L. Stoll, president of TurnKey Title in Fort Lauderdale; Secretary Rhonda A. Calhoun, executive director of the Broward League of Cities; and Assistant Secretary Dan Gordon, certified property casualty underwriter with Bateman, Gordon and Sands.

Remaining in their existing offices are Vice Chair Maureen Jaeger, special assistant to Governor Charlie Crist, and Treasurer Robert C. Bernstein, president of Spectrum Healthcare Solutions, Inc.
