This score designates United HomeCare as an official “Give with Confidence” charity, indicating that our organization is using its donations effectively based on Charity Navigator’s criteria. Charity Navigator is America’s largest and most-utilized independent charity evaluator. Since 2001, the organization has been an unbiased and trusted source of information for more than 9 million users annually.

The Encompass Rating System is a comprehensive evaluation tool that analyzes nonprofit performance based on four key indicators, referred to as beacons. Currently, nonprofits can earn scores for the Finance & Accountability, Impact & Results, Culture & Community, and Leadership & Adaptability beacons.

The Encompass Rating System enables Charity Navigator to increase the number of nonprofits it evaluates, growing from 9,000 to nearly 200,000 nonprofits evaluated. In order to be more inclusive of smaller and more recently established nonprofits, the system uses a combination of automated methods and technology-supported manual research and analysis to provide donors and nonprofits with four clearly-visualized indicators of organizational effectiveness.

“We are delighted to provide United HomeCare with third-party accreditation that validates their operational excellence,” said Michael Thatcher, President and CEO of Charity Navigator. “We are eager to see the good work that the organization is able to accomplish in the years ahead.”

“Our Charity Navigator rating of 100 out of 100 through their Encompass Rating System is further validation that our supporters can trust our commitment to good governance and financial accountability,” said Carlos L. Martinez, President and CEO of United HomeCare. “We hope that it will introduce our work to new supporters who can help us advance our mission “To make a difference in the lives of individuals by offering community-based health care solutions that promote independence and wellness,” and transform senior living for our community’s older adults.

COVID-19 has significantly impacted the home health and long-term care industry and has driven our organization to implement innovative steps to recruit and retain home health employees. As a result, we launched the United HomeCare Learn & Work™ Program which provides access-to-jobs through workforce training and employment opportunities to individuals in need of training and jobs providing them opportunities to work in the home health industry and access-to-care through application assistance to older adults living in our county’s most underserved communities. This has a regional economic and workforce development impact in South Florida and enhances United HomeCare’s mission to enhance the lives of older adults.
