West Boca Medical Center has recognized three employees for “going the extra mile” on behalf of their patients and the hospital. Rich Pilla, radiology supervisor, was named 2007 Employee of the Year while Brandy Weindorf, payroll manager, and Fernando Tobon, patient care technician in the post anesthesia care unit, share the spotlight as 2007 Healthcare Heroes.

Pilla has been at West Boca Medical Center since 1990. As the supervisor of MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) and CT scans, he not only runs both areas but has extended himself by being available when extra help is needed.

Brandy Weindorf is known at West Boca Medical Center for having excellent communication skills and a great sense of humor. She also has clearly demonstrated her commitment to her job by modifying her hours to accommodate employees coming off the night shift and returning early from maternity leave, helping to solve a payroll problem for the hospital.

For Fernando Tobon, who has been at the hospital for nearly 20 years, being a Healthcare Hero comes easily. Co-workers describe him as an exemplary employee who is always available to others.
