August 1, 2022 – Board-certified radiation oncologist Yonatan Weiss, M.D., joins Miami Cancer Institute, part of Baptist Health. Dr. Weiss specializes in treating thoracic, central nervous system and gynecologic cancers.

“We are honored that Dr. Weiss joined our Miami Cancer Institute team,” said Leonard Kalman, M.D., executive deputy director and chief medical officer at Miami Cancer Institute. “Our patients will benefit significantly from his patient-centric care, strong communications skills and collaborative experience.”

Prior to joining Miami Cancer Institute, Dr. Weiss was a clinical instructor in the radiation oncology department at the University of California Los Angeles. He also served as a chief resident at the Princess Margaret and Odette Cancer Centres, the premier cancer programs in Canada. Through his education and experience, Dr. Weiss is an expert in using advanced technologies, such as Gamma Knife radiosurgery and interstitial brachytherapy, to treat cancer patients. In Dr. Weiss’ new role at Miami Cancer Institute, he will work to lead and expand the brachytherapy services offered to patients.”

He also worked in the cancer research field before beginning his medical training, as he investigated DNA repair in organisms that were resistant to radiation.

Dr. Weiss earned his medical degree from McMaster University and completed his residency in radiation oncology at the University of Toronto.
