January 23, 2020 – Dr. Miguel Diaz, interventional cardiologist is appointed to the leadership team at Palmetto General Hospital as the medical director of its structural heart program. As the medical director of the structural heart program, he will lead and work alongside the specialists in the cardiac catheterization lab and heart valve clinic, which offer patients some of the latest treatments in valve repair and replacement.
“Dr. Diaz was chosen to be the medical director of the structural heart program because of his commitment to Palmetto General Hospital and his continued perseverance to deliver quality care to our community,” said Palmetto General Hospital CEO, Ana Mederos. “We are pleased to welcome him to his new role.”

Dr. Diaz earned his degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine. He did his Internship at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Internal Medicine and his Residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Internal Medicine. He was the Chief Resident at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. He did his Fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiovascular Disease.
