The Broward County Medical Association (BCMA) is proud to announce the 2026 honorees and award recipients to be recognized during the BCMA Presidential Inauguration Gala and Centennial Celebration on Saturday, January 31st at Le Meridien Dania Beach. As the Association marks 100 years of physician leadership, advocacy, and service in Broward County, this year’s recognitions highlight the individuals and institutions whose impact has shaped the future of healthcare in the region.

Christopher Chang, M.D. – President-Elect

Dr. Christopher Chang, a nationally-recognized pediatric allergist and immunologist, will be inaugurated as President of BCMA on January 31st. He currently serves as Chief of the Division of Pediatric Immunology and Allergy at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, and is preparing to guide the Association into its second century of service.

Dana Wallace, M.D. – BCMA Physician of the Year

Dr. Dana Wallace is being recognized for her outstanding leadership and contributions that have meaningfully advanced healthcare outcomes for patients in Broward County. This award recognizes a Broward County physician who exemplifies professional excellence, leadership, and service to patients, peers, and the community. The honoree reflects the highest values of the medical profession and the mission of the Broward County Medical Association.

BCMA Institutional Partner Awards

This award recognizes a healthcare institution, organization, or academic partner in Broward County whose collaboration with physicians and the BCMA has significantly enhanced healthcare delivery, education, or advocacy efforts in the region. The BCMA is recognizing two organizations in this category.

  • ProAssurance has been selected as a recipient of the BCMA Institutional Partner Award in recognition of its longstanding commitment to supporting physicians and strengthening the stability of healthcare delivery in Broward County.
  • Nova Southeastern University (NSU) has also been honored with the Institutional Partner Award for its exceptional role as an academic and community partner in advancing medical education, research, and advocacy in Broward County. As a leader in health professions training, NSU has worked with the BCMA to promote interdisciplinary collaboration, and prepare the next generation of physicians and healthcare professionals.

Scholarship Recipients

In addition, through the Cynthia Peterson Legacy Fund Scholarship, the BCMA Foundation will recognize the following student physicians as recipients of the 2026 scholarship awards:

  • Ashley McGill, Doctor of Allopathic Medicine Candidate, Class of 2027. NSU Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine
  • Emma Woldenberg, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Candidate, Class of 2026. NSU Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine
