Feb. 11, 2026 — The International Cardio-Oncology Society (ICOS) has again recognized the Lee Health Cancer and Heart Institutes, awarding Gold Status as a Center of Excellence for Cardio-Oncology. Lee Health is one of only three cardio-oncology Centers of Excellence in Florida.
This prestigious designation is awarded to institutions that demonstrate superior standards in patient care and treatment in cardio-oncology. This certification establishes a robust quality metrics framework that fosters the development, growth and clinical impact of each recognized program.
The International Cardio-Oncology Society is a global organization dedicated to improving the cardiovascular health of patients with cancer. Through education, research and advocacy, ICOS fosters collaboration and innovation to address the unique challenges of the field.
Cardio-oncology is a subspecialty of cardiology focused on monitoring, preventing and treating cardiovascular side effects, such as cardiotoxicity, caused by cancer therapies, including chemotherapy and radiation. It also involves collaboration among oncologists, hematologists and cardiologists to better serve patients with cancer.
