May 6, 2026 — The Leapfrog Group has released its Spring 2026 Hospital Safety Grades, awarding “A” grades to Cape Coral Hospital, HealthPark Medical Center and Lee Memorial Hospital. Gulf Coast Medical Center received a strong “B” in the latest ratings.
This marks the 17th consecutive reporting period in which every Lee Health hospital has earned a Leapfrog grade of “B” or higher. These safety grades are refelective of the sustained efforts across the system since release of Fall Hospital Safety Grades in November.
Cape Coral Hospital, HealthPark Medical Center and Lee Memorial Hospital also received Leapfrog’s prestigious “Straight A” designation, which recognizes hospitals that have earned an “A” safety grade for at least five consecutive years, an accomplishment that only an elite group of 15% of Leapfrog hospitals earn nation wide. HealthPark Medical Center earned its 15th consecutive “A” grade, while Lee Memorial Hospital and Cape Coral Hospital each extended their streaks to eight straight “A” ratings.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade evaluates hospitals nationwide on their ability to prevent medical errors, infections and other patient harms. In the Spring 2026 report, every Lee Health hospital achieved a raw score of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, reflecting strong performance in patient safety and quality measures.

Leapfrog’s high standards were developed with guidance from a national expert panel. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 22 measures of publicly available hospital safety data, updated twice each year, to assign grades to nearly 3,000 acute-care hospitals in the United States. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
Children’s hospitals are not included in The Leapfrog Group’s spring grades. However, the Leapfrog Group has named Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida as a Top Children’s Hospital six times.
