Fernando F. (Enrique) Elli, MD, FACS, is a board-certified general surgeon, nationally recognized bariatric and foregut surgeon, and Division Chair of General Surgery for Cleveland Clinic in Florida. With more than two decades of surgical experience, Dr. Elli has helped advance the care of patients with complex gastrointestinal and metabolic conditions through innovative, patient-centered treatment approaches.
Dr. Elli’s clinical interests include primary and revisional bariatric surgery, treatment of obesity-related diseases, surgical management of benign and malignant disorders of the esophagus and stomach, foregut surgery, adrenal surgery, abdominal wall hernia repair, gastroparesis, and robotic surgery. He is particularly experienced in treating patients with complex surgical histories and complications from previous bariatric procedures.
Dr. Elli earned his medical degree from Universidad del Salvador in Argentina. He completed surgical training at the University of Buenos Aires before pursuing additional residency and fellowship training in general surgery, minimally invasive surgery and laparoscopic bariatric surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and has held numerous academic and leadership appointments throughout his career.
